Chic In Black Monday 11 - Chocolate Ice Box Fudge

Monday, July 25, 2011

Welcome to Chic In Black Monday again. Our entry for this week is not only Chic, but is oh so super yummy! I recently bought a voucher for Di' Mark's Pizza in Alabang and used it a couple of weekends ago and although this dessert is not part of their deal, it really deserves a mention. (I know the cream looks a bit messy but it's all good once it hits your tummy.)

Little Missy loved their Chocolate Ice Box Fudge. Maybe because we're both fans of chocolates and anything sweet, this one had such a rich, heavy chocolate flavor. She finished almost the entire serving, but my mom who's not a sweet tooth just managed a taste of it. She said it was too much for her.  I'm sure we'll have it again soon so another call to Di'Marks for a reservation is definitely coming up.

New favorite word - Arrrrrr!

Friday, July 22, 2011

Yes, little Missy is now a Pirate!  She's addicted to Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Arrrrr!

Ever since the pilot episode, she hasn't missed an episode I think, even if some of them are already reruns (to think they only launched July 11).  Because of her like of the new characters, she has already expressed interest as to what her birthday theme will be.  Care to take a guess?  Yes, pirates!

Because I consider it pretty unusual for a girl, I started looking online for pirate costumes.  I didn't know they cost so much so I saved some pictures and will ask around if someone can sew them locally.  Most costumes I saw were sold in the US so aside from the cost of the costume, shipping cost might just kill me.

I also thought of looking for adult pirate costumes just in case the hubby and I decide to wear the theme too. I don't think our regular malls offer these costumes for adult but I'm sure I will be able to save on the cost for the accessories, like the laces and frills for the tops, the black support pantyhose for the mommy pirate, the boot covers for the daddy pirate and other costume paraphernalia like hats, swords and belts.

If only I could find someone to sew the costume for us, I know it'll be such a great hit when little Missy's birthday comes.  Wish me luck... and if you know of someone who's good in sewing costumes, please do drop me a line at mytotsexactly (at) yahoo.com  I sure appreciate all the help I can get.

Kiddie Movie Marathon

Little Missy used to be content with watching her regular shows at Playhouse Disney, now Disney Junior Asia, and the morning shows at Nick Jr (Umizumi, Backyardigans, Yo Gabba Gabba, Bubble Guppies, etc).  I only let her watch select shows from Nick Jr. because I feel some of their shows are not for her age, and use slapstick for humor.

Anyway, she now enjoys watching an hour and a half long, or two hour long movies.  When Disney Junior had their re-branding launch, they featured Cars and Tinkerbell 2.  I was surprised that Little Missy just sat and watched the movies eagerly.  After that I also started noticing that her attention span seems to be longer now for other shows and activities.  I guess it's time for us to invest in a good home theater system and find the best sound bars for maximum enjoyment when it comes to our family movie time.

I'm sure there are other things that I will notice now about her.  She's no longer my little baby, I think.  She's a young adult in my opinion, since she can voice out her wants and reason out with me already.  Okay fine, young girl it is.  I was just managing my expectations.

Varekai, I shall see you soon.

Thursday, July 21, 2011

I've been hearing a lot of rave from those who watched Varekai, the Cirque du Soleil, show here in Manila. We really wanted to watch it but didn't know at first if little Missy will enjoy (and stay put) throughout the entire show.

There's still a couple of days left and I think I'll try to convince hubby if we can watch it. It will be our first time to watch a show (except for the cinema) as a family so it will truly be memorable. I know some of my friends who watched the show say it's really a great experience, that it's as if you're watching these shows in las vegas so I'm pretty excited.

Also, this is the first Cirque du Soleil show in the Philippines. It marks a milestone in our entertainment history, a chance to show the world that we can host world-class performances here in our country.

Google Doodle: Gregor Mendel's Birthday

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

It's been some time since I last posted a Google Doodle (or Google Art as I used to call it). This one is to celebrate Gregor Mendel's 189th Birthday!

According to Wikipedia Gregor Mendel was known as the "Father of Modern Genetics". This was due to his experiments on Plant Hybridization on pea plants.

Want to win a set of McDonald's Coca-Cola Can Glass?

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Do you own a whole set already? I do just because I love these types of promos especially if it's something I can use at home. I actually have 2 sets (and counting?) already and I thought I'd just host a giveaway for the other one. But if I can complete another set, then I'll be giving away 2 complete sets or even more. For now, I only have 1 at hand and if I can't complete another, maybe I can give consolation prizes (1 each or so) as part of the giveaway.

The photo above was taken from McDelivery.com.ph but the photos below are mine :D

I'll open the giveaway soon so watch out for it. Unfortunately due to the fact that these glasses are breakable and considering the shipping fee, the giveaway will only be for residents in the Philippines but if you're in another country and can use a Philippine address (relatives perhaps) then you're eligible to join too!

Another Panda update?

A buzz has been going around in our mommy community about some blogs changing their PR or Page Rank again. Most of the ranks stayed the same but those that were drastically demoted went up for a number of moms.

I'm happy to say that some of the blogs I bought who went down by 2 now went up by 1. I know the rank shouldn't be the basis of it's success (as much as good, sensible content) but sometimes it helps to think you may be doing something right.

There are still a lot of things for me to learn but looks like I'm going the right part, or at least I hope so. With help and sound advice from my guru friends, I know I'll learn more really soon.

How about you? Were your blogs affected by this recent, though quite untimely, update?

Chic In Black Monday 10 - POLO Double Black for Men

Monday, July 18, 2011

As mentioned in my previous apology post, to those who posted their entries for last week and will be joining again this week with a new entry, please add your linky TWICE so we can still visit the old post.

Anyway, this was supposed to be my entry for last Monday but since I couldn't publish my post, I just decided to save it for today. Hubby got his last pay from his previous work so he splurged a bit and I really think he deserves it. He works so hard to provide for us and always tries to buy us our whims and fancies that last Sunday was HIS shopping day. Aside from a couple of kamisotchinos (undershirts), 10 pairs of health socks and a long sleeved polo shirt from Arrow, this perfume was the one that took so long to buy.

You see, hubby is kind of OC when it comes to perfumes. A lot of brands and types don't really go well with him because his sweat is acidic. When buying perfumes for him, we usually test 4 of his liked scents, 2 on each arm, 1 on the wrist and 1 on the upper arm right before the elbow area. Then we walk around and buy more things or eat a meal and then see which one smells best for him. This month's winner is Ralph Lauren's POLO Double Black. (image below from Google)

The one who sold us threw in a bag with it. (photo below taken by hubby using his BB so please pardon the lighting)

The thing I love most with hubby is that even when it's his shopping day, he still made sure he bought me and little Missy some gifts. His shopping day is our shopping day too. This definitely started our week well! Hope you all have a great week! Happy CIB Monday!

Jollitown is back in their new home on ABS-CBN

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Last July 9th, we were invited to attend the launching of Jollitown Season 4. Yes, its BACK with a lot of awesome surprises, even a new home (I'll tell you about it later). I can't wait to watch more time traveling adventures with little Missy and I'm very thankful we were offered this chance for a sneak preview.

Jollitown Season 4
As soon as we entered the venue at White Space in Pasong Tamo, little Missy got so excited with just about everything around her. Jollitown is such a kiddie land paradise!

“With Jollitown, it has always been our goal to entertain and impart values to children. To further strengthen this endeavor, we made the new season even more dynamic and fun to effectively reach out to the show’s young audience,” says Twinkle Aniceto, Jollibee brand manager.

Jollitown Season 4 Wishing Well
Buffet for adultsAlthough the lights were dimmed, she really didn't mind and never once clutched at my hand. She just loved the colorful structures, balloons and colorful lights. Another thing that made her feel at home was that there were kids around.

We were first offered some lunch and of course, being a mom, the little one has to go first. I guess it really was her lucky day because they just happened to have her favorite, pasta! I was told kids could have their favorite Jollibee Chickenjoy but I'm pretty sure my little girl didn't mind.

At around 1pm, the fun started. At first little Missy was taken aback by Mr. Q's voice but she eventually loved him just the same. She also loved how the My Masterpiece Movement was able to transform blank sheets into interesting pictures and color effects.

The event’s highlights takes off from the plot of the new season. The magical clock tower DingDangDong is broken and it’s up to Jollibee and friends to put him back together. Along the way, they meet new characters such as the futuristic Mr. Tom Morrow. With his robots accidentally out of control, kids and parents spent the day helping rebuild Jollitown as they play a ton of fun-filled activities. Participants had a fantastic time with the unique games where they got a first-hand experience of what it’s like to be in Jollitown. Another highlight was the interactive and awe-inspiring “art” performance by the My Masterpiece Movement, as they drew and colored Jollitown to life and took the guests to a mesmerizing time-travel journey.

“More than developing the kids’ skills, the activities are really about helping one another. And that’s also what we want to show in this new season of Jollitown. We want to continue helping parents impart good values to their children,” shares Coleen Niguidula-Ducusin, Jollibee marketing manager.
Who said kids have all the fun? There were lots of games for BOTH parents and kids alike. I just love events such as this because aside from having fun, it also serves as an opportunity for parents to bond with their children. Even my little Missy wanted to join in on the fun when Jollibee asked who wanted to join the game.

Capping off the day of fun and excitement, the enthusiastic kids were treated to an entertaining performance from the talented crew of Jollibee, Popo, Hetty, Twirlie and Yum.
Jollibee, Popo, Hetty, Twirlie, Yum Jollibee, Popo, Hetty, Twirlie, Yum
Kids will truly be up for an adventure-filled season as they catch their beloved characters onscreen travel across time to help a friend. With new characters, amazing musical numbers, enchanted travels, and cool learnings, Jollitown season 4 will definitely be a kiddie must-see.

Starting July 17, Jollitown fans can catch their favorite jolly characters at a new home and timeslot. Join the delightful gang of Jollibee and friends in Jollitown season 4 as it airs on their new home, ABS-CBN, every Sunday at 9:00 am.
So, aren't you excited? We are!! See you at Jollitown on Sunday!

My apologies for Chic In Black

Because of my internet problem (or Blogger.com) problem, Chic In Black this week was not posted. I think it's too late to post it now since we will be having another one in 2 days so I'll reserve that post for Monday.

I will however allow 2 posts for Chic in Black for each participant in the event that they still posted an entry on their blogs. I think their entries for this week still deserve the visit and comment from all CIB enthusiasts.

So, my apologies for this week's snafu. I've already scheduled the post for Monday and it will be up by 12:00mn. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Offline, online... offline!

Friday, July 15, 2011

Little Missy was the one who noticed that there was something wrong with our internet connection. She couldn't connect to her games on my phone so she called my attention. I tried to check my connection and it seemed that everything was working properly. All the lights were lit, and I could access my Yahoo! Messenger and Facebook.

I tried to restart my computer just in case it would help and at first it did. But when I tried to write something to publish for this blog, I just couldn't. I tried during different hours of the day, until late at night or even early morning. I actually thought it was Blogger.com's fault, after all, they've been having hiccups since they changed their "look".

Thankfully, I still had my messenger and facebook so I asked my friends online if they encountered the same problem with Blogger. Aside from the missing GFC widget, they were able to publish posts they said.

The next day, I called up our provider (especially since Little Missy missed her daily story online). They did some remote testing but advised that there weren't any known technical problems in our area. I still had access to facebook and yahoo so I still thought it was Blogger.

This went on until today and after long hours of "hot" debate with my provider. My connection seems to have picked up a bit, but it's still a little sluggish. I'm just glad that I can also access and post in Blogger now.

Did you have any problems with your internet connection this week or with Blogger perhaps?
