The day to fool around!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Yay one more day and it's April!

I have yet to think of prank to pull on everyone today but as I was finishing some things online, I noticed Google's logo.

Apparently, it's Robert Bunsen's 200th birthday today. I didn't even have to click the link to know that he was responsible for the Bunsen Burner. That's probably the only thing I remember from my Chemistry classes in high school and college. To refresh your memory, below is a pic of Robert Bunsen and the Bunsen burner.

Do you participate in April fools? Have you thought of what prank to pull tomorrow?

Pink Friday #3

Friday, March 25, 2011

We attended a party last week and when I saw Birdie, I immediately remembered Pink Friday! I love it that she really posed for this picture. I'm just not sure if she was trying to do the "peace" sign :D

So here goes my entry for this week's Pink Friday.

Busy Sunday Part 2 - Yakimix

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

So after we attended Mass (Busy Sunday Part 1), our busy day continues...

First we went to Manila to pick up some goodies from an Aunt's house. An uncle in the US sent my mom some tubs of multivitamins and we were also given some candies and chocolates for pasalubong, yay! I didn't really see what were in the other boxes because I was already holding on to my pack of chocolate and ham tee-hee.

At around 12:15, we arrived at our highlight of the day. Our eat-all-you-can adventure at Yakimix in Greenbelt 3. It was only our second time there and even though we were number 51 and they were still calling no. 25, we waited it out. Daddy, my sister and I have been preparing for this for 1 whole week. My bad that I didn't call for reservations earlier. Good news though was most of those from nos. 30-45 weren't there so a lot of numbers were skipped. I think we got a table in a little less than an hour. Did you know that they serve red iced tea while you wait? I only got one for little Missy but we didn't want to spoil our growing hunger to maximize the buffet.

I didn't manage to get any pictures taken. I was so busy feeding little Missy that I didn't even stand up to get my food. Daddy and my sister took turns to put food on my plate, or they'd get what they thought I wanted to grill. Food just kept piling on my plate and little Missy had fun tossing them on the grill. She ate the hotdogs that she grilled herself, some Nido or Bird's eye soup, some fresh grilled shrimps and a couple of bites of tempura.

The only picture I was able to take was little Missy's dessert. It was supposed to be the toppings for the ice cream but she just loves them so much that she just eats them like candy (yep, toothbrushed as soon as we got home).

A bowl of candies, smarties, sprinkles and mallows

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum! Can't wait for another Yakimix date, maybe next month.
Buffet for 4 adults with bottomless drinks totaled just a little under P2,700.00 (around $65)
Seeing my daughter all happy and excited to grill and eat her candies, PRICELESS.

At the end of our lunch, we all had bulging tummies! What a perfect way to end the day, except it isn't over yet. Check out my post later for Part 3, which will be all about my tot, my little Missy.

Busy Sunday Part 1 - Mass

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Today was a busy day but no matter how busy, we always try to attend mass to start our day. We actually attended and earlier schedule today because little Missy woke up early.

At first I only noticed that blue was the color of the day, I really didn't notice that they were all the same. But once I saw that they were uniforms, I just had to get a shot during one of the breaks during the announcement of activities. But before the mass ended, the supervisors and up were formally introduced.

I thought there were only a few of them until I saw the others in front.

Then they were formally introduced as members of the Las Pinas City Police Force.

Picture taking with the Parish Priest after the mass.

More of what happened during the day in my next post. I think this one deserves a post on its own. Prayers to our Police Force. May you continue to serve the city and our country with honesty and integrity, and that you may always be God-fearing above all else.

So where to for lunch? Read on for Busy Sunday Part 2.

Typhoid shot

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Little Missy got her typhoid shot. Ever since she got her first shot when she was a newborn, she didn't really cry. But the last 2 shots that she got, she's been crying like a real baby. I guess it's the age where they remember and acknowledge the pain now. She actually told me that we don't need to go to the doctor because she's not feeling hurt or pain anywhere in her body and that she doesn't have a booboo.

I'm just glad we still found a workaround. She cries because of the pain but she doesn't seem to know it's the injection yet. She connected the pain to the bandaid. So right after the shot, she removes the bandaid (and sticks it to me), says there's no more booboo and stops crying. Right after that we take her to the balloon wheels (mini ferris wheel) and rides some kiddie rides then she forgets everything that happened.

I'm so happy she started being like this only now, when she's almost 2 and a half years old. We've finished with almost all her shots (just 2 more for pneumococcal and meningococcal) then we're all done. We'll be coming back for booster shots when she's 4 already! Yay!!

Here are some pics of her on the rides.

This was taken a few weeks back but you get the idea what the balloon wheel looks like.

Did you have a fun-filled Saturday too? Hope you will be having an even great Sunday!

Weekend plans and Pink Friday #2

Friday, March 11, 2011

I'm so happy it's Friday! I haven't been this excited in a long time. So, why am I excited? Because we're going to go shopping during the weekend! Well first, we have to get her shots so doc visit on Sat and then its fun day on Sunday!

We are planning to go to Res|Toe|Run to claim little Missy's prizes for her win as Best Kiddie Pose (3 pairs of shoes from DC, Sanuk and Fitflops). It will be such a great reward after the little girl gets her vax shots on Saturday. Below is her winning photo:

The winning photo is also my entry for this week's Pink Friday.

How about you? Any plans for the weekend?
Hope you have a great weekend everyone! Be safe and have fun!

International Women's Day 2011 and my 1st Blogaversary

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

First, thank you Google for commemorating this day with all of us women. As I clicked on the logo, it actually took me to a special page where we can join different events for the day instead of resulting to search pages. I joined te International Women's Day Parade - Stronger Women for Stronger Nations which was supposed to be a walk in one of the cities nearby but I never did leave the house. I virtually joined the event which was really, really cool.

Next, I am honored to have been in the presence of Sr. Mary John Mananzan when I was still in High School (she became President 4 years after I graduated HS). She has inspired a lot of women in our country and I hope that more women realize that we are strong, that we have rights, that we are smart and that we should be loved. Sr. Mary John Mananzan was cited by the New York-based Women Deliver to mark the 100th International Women's Day.

Lastly, today also marks my first blogaversary. My very first post, My Blog-breaker was posted on March 8th, 2010 at 3:51pm. I am happy to say that in a year of blogging I have learned a lot. I have been (and still am being) educated about the workarounds in this internet-based world. Through blogging, I have also earned somehow from the confines of my home while caring for my little Missy 24/7. Thank you everyone who shared this 1-year journey with me. Thank you to my super husband who supported me all the way and never failed to let me know that I am appreciated. Thank you to all my mommy friends from all over the world (OCB, HML, BC, PMB/PMC).

I am proud to be a woman. I am proud to be a wife and a mom. I am proud to be your friend. I hope you'll journey with me for many, many more years to come.
