Just found out that today marks the 50th Anniversary of the First Human Spaceflight.
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was the first human to journey into outer space when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961. He was a Soviel pilot and cosmonaut. (Wikipedia)
