Busy Sunday Part 2 - Yakimix

So after we attended Mass (Busy Sunday Part 1), our busy day continues...

First we went to Manila to pick up some goodies from an Aunt's house. An uncle in the US sent my mom some tubs of multivitamins and we were also given some candies and chocolates for pasalubong, yay! I didn't really see what were in the other boxes because I was already holding on to my pack of chocolate and ham tee-hee.

At around 12:15, we arrived at our highlight of the day. Our eat-all-you-can adventure at Yakimix in Greenbelt 3. It was only our second time there and even though we were number 51 and they were still calling no. 25, we waited it out. Daddy, my sister and I have been preparing for this for 1 whole week. My bad that I didn't call for reservations earlier. Good news though was most of those from nos. 30-45 weren't there so a lot of numbers were skipped. I think we got a table in a little less than an hour. Did you know that they serve red iced tea while you wait? I only got one for little Missy but we didn't want to spoil our growing hunger to maximize the buffet.

I didn't manage to get any pictures taken. I was so busy feeding little Missy that I didn't even stand up to get my food. Daddy and my sister took turns to put food on my plate, or they'd get what they thought I wanted to grill. Food just kept piling on my plate and little Missy had fun tossing them on the grill. She ate the hotdogs that she grilled herself, some Nido or Bird's eye soup, some fresh grilled shrimps and a couple of bites of tempura.

The only picture I was able to take was little Missy's dessert. It was supposed to be the toppings for the ice cream but she just loves them so much that she just eats them like candy (yep, toothbrushed as soon as we got home).

Busy Sunday Part 1 - Mass

Today was a busy day but no matter how busy, we always try to attend mass to start our day. We actually attended and earlier schedule today because little Missy woke up early.

At first I only noticed that blue was the color of the day, I really didn't notice that they were all the same. But once I saw that they were uniforms, I just had to get a shot during one of the breaks during the announcement of activities. But before the mass ended, the supervisors and up were formally introduced.

I thought there were only a few of them until I saw the others in front.


Then they were formally introduced as members of the Las Pinas City Police Force.

More of what happened during the day in my next post. I think this one deserves a post on its own. Prayers to our Police Force. May you continue to serve the city and our country with honesty and integrity, and that you may always be God-fearing above all else.

Fun day at Fun Ranch!

If you haven't read my previous post, The Bad, The Love and The Fun, this post will detail our super fun day at Fun Ranch.

Last Saturday, December 11th, we were invited to attend the ATD and Mommy Bloggers Event at Fun Ranch. We actually arrived late and missed the program but the event was for the children of The Good Foundation. The hosts were very gracious to provide a scrumptious buffet for the children as well as for the Mommy and DAddy bloggers and their child/ren. Aside from food, we were also given an Unlimited or Ride-all-you-can pass for the day to enjoy with our family and the children of the orphanage. What's best is we were also handed loot bags with assorted goodies, yum yum!

The Bad, The Love, and The Fun

This post is actually about our adventures last Saturday. I forgot to share all about it because I've been fighting with an adware virus (tracker) in my computer for days. Anywho, it's gone now so I feel safe opening up my files again.

The Bad -
Let's start with Friday night. Daddy usually comes home late every Friday because he has to participate in a global call. Friday nights in the PH seems to be the perfect time for all the other countries to join in. Aside from coming home late, hubby called to say he felt the car was overheating. He had to stop at all the gas stations along the way to have the radiator cooled down. He knew something else was wrong because he wasn't actually losing water, the engine just kept heating up.

So he got home around 1am and we both decided that he'll take the car to the car shop early next morning. Why early next morning? Because I was invited to attend my a blogger event at Fun Ranch in Tiendesitas.

Next day came and took the car to the shop. We estimated that maybe it'll take around 3 hours to fix, giving us enough time to attend the event, or maybe even a little bit late. Imagine my surprise when hubby said it'll take 2 weeks to fix the car. There wasn't wrong with the radiator or belts, it was the engine itself.

The Love -
Powerless (and carless), I just told hubby that I'd just cancel. I think he could hear from my voice that it was important to me. He said he was really, really sorry but I knew it wasn't his fault. Our car, Queenie, is 18 years old. She had a right to break down once in awhile.

After 10 minutes, hubby said we're still going. He'll take care of everything to make sure I get to attend the event, even though we're late. After preparing Little Missy, hubby arrived in a taxi. He showered, got our things and made a phone call. Another 10 minutes and another taxi came. He said no matter what, we're going.

The taxi ride wasn't fun. It was Little Missy's first time in a public transport and sad to say she vomited due to byahilo or motion sickness. Throughout the trip I was looking at her to see how she is so she really didn't make a mess. I was prepared for it. We had to stop when she vomited though because she was very fussy. It was the first time I saw her that helpless. When it was all over, she just leaned on me and slowly fell asleep.

We managed to arrive at Fun Ranch but were super duper late. Mommy Lace and the other mommy bloggers weren't even there anymore but Mommy Lace made sure I had my loots, PR kit and ticket when we got there. I told her not to anymore because I was really embarrassed that we arrived so late but I promised her, and my little Missy that we will go no matter what.

I love Daddy for this, for all his effort to make everything materialize. He knew how it was important for me and he made it possible.

The Fun -

As soon as we got to Fun Ranch, we looked for Tita Anna. When she handed us our passes, nothing can stop Little Missy from doing everything and everything. We rode the rides, had fun at the Fun Family Zone and played around. My little girl especially loved that area in the middle with letters that had animal information on them. She read them again and again.

After Fun Ranch, we had to attend a birthday cum Christmas Party. It was Ate Yosha's 3rd birthday party and as it was a gathering of moms who used to be members of the Baby Central site, it was also our EB/Christmas Party.

We arrived late too but thankfully, Tita Wheng waited for us before she started raffling off some prizes and the exchange of gifts.

What a day. With the bad, the love, and the fun, I couldn't ask for more.

Snow? In a tropical island?

I know... it's just wishful thinking.

It's just so intriguing that most of my US friends are now experiencing snow, some even have snow storms. Mild snow seems so fun. Me and my little girl can run around, do snow angels (she does them on the bed) and throw snow balls.

Most of my friends have pictures in snow by now and I've even seen some of their vehicles with tire chains. I actually asked them about it because it seemed weird at first but they said it was for additional traction. The tire chains keep their vehicles from slipping and skidding on the snow. I guess I'll never need to buy tire chains since I live in a tropical country.

I do hope we get to experience snow in this lifetime. I love the thought a family first time experience. We do have some seasonal shows or attractions here in the country where you can get to touch, feel, and play with artificial snow. Maybe we can try them out this year. But hopefully next year, we can travel this season to somewhere here in Asia where there's snow. I'm saying in Asia because it's cheaper and therefore easier to achieve.

I guess having snow in a tropical island is out of the question. But wish me luck next year!

One step at a time

These were pictures taken last weekend. I want to share one of my indescribable feelings as a Mommy. Somehow, seeing these pictures again made me realize that she has indeed grown up. She is getting to be independent and as a parent, I need to let her go her own way sometimes.

I find it comforting yet heartbreaking. She is slowly learning the ropes of life, I know. But as a mother, it is hard to just let go.

What a better way to end the day though. At the end of the rainbow, I know something good will come out of all this. Looking forward to a long future with my not-so-little Missy. I just hope she takes it one step at a time.

I saw Mommy thanking Santa Claus Part 2

Look who handed us our prize! (What we won? Please read "I won!")

I do have pics of my own but I wanted to wait for Rustan's to publish the photos first, after all this made possible because of them (Rustan's Wishlist Contest). I'll just post my photos later on.

I thought it was a regular photo op. A representative handing us our prize, you know, the usual stuff. We were surprised when we said we had to go a certain "area". Seeing Santa there with all the Christmas decors certainly made us feel that this was truly a wonderful Christmas gift.

Even my little girl was surprised that Santa was handing her the gift, this early! I felt so content and happy when she wanted me to give her a little smack.





After a little convo with Santa, and him singing Frosty the Snowman with us, we finally had a real, formal photo taken.



This is truly a memorable experience for us. One day my little girl can really say that she saw Mommy thanking Santa Claus.

Bubbles over Megamind

We were supposed to watch Megamind last Saturday. But before we went it, we asked around about how the movie was and we were told it was rated PG for language and some violence/action I think (not sure anymore today). Since litte Missy is in her mimicking stage, we decided to skip it.

We decided to go to Makati and had lunch at Big Buddha (service was worse than poor, I'll blog about it in My Tummy Calls sometime this week). After our late lunch, we decided to take little Missy to Greenhills to watch the animated show.

When we got to Greenhills, we lost hope. First, all the gasoline stations were out of Gas (V-Power and Premium). Second, traffic was horrible! Third, if traffic was that bad, I expect foot traffic was even worse. We decided to go home BUT dropped by Krispy Kreme at Boni High for some late snack.

The next day, we again went to Boni High to meet with our friends. She forgot about missing the movie altogether because she saw bubbles! She ran and ran trying to catch them. Pictures to be uploaded later in another post. They're up for watermarking.

Saturday plan

This is a scheduled post.

We're planning to watch Megamind today. If they allow little Missy inside, this will be another milestone, her first time to watch in a cinema. Since it's a 3D movie too, Daddy and I will also have 2 momentous events... our first time to watch a 3D movie and our first time to watch a movie as a family.

I sure hope this pushes through. Daddy has a scheduled meeting right after lunch so I am praying we still have time for at least the second to the last full show (around 8pm). If we do get to watch it, I'll blog about our experience on Monday.

Starbucks charged Saturday... and a doughnut.

We get to sleep-in late on Saturdays, but this Saturday, something was just nudging me to stand up and start my day.

I was so excited for the day because we were meeting up with Tita Tin and Tito Joel. They were having their pre-nup pictures taken at Fernbrook and agreed to meet us afterward. I was to get the cloths for my little Missy's first flower girl dress! I've seen the design online and it's so simple and pretty.

We met at Starbucks El Molito and I got my first glimpse of the planner and the holiday treats. I was curious about the Christmas Holiday Wrap after reading Mommy Ro of Animetric World's blog post about all the yummy goodies (Read here, Starbucks Cheer Party) so I tried one. After my first bite however, little Missy took over. She ate half of it. I let her keep eating it because I know it's healthy for her, then whatever she left, hubby and I just shared. I hope I can still go to a Cheer Party though, I'd love to have one of those again AND try out the other cakes, pastries and bread.

After our meeting, we headed off to another Starbucks at Boni since hubby had to meet with some friends. I knew it would take some time so Little Missy and I went around. For the long part, we just played at Hobbes and Landes. I especially liked that there was a Robotics Workshop at that time. I love seeing children with their parents just bonding and doing something they love. I am not sure if it were Lego blocks that they were using, but they were making catapults out of it. This makes me want to get preggo and have son soon! hehe

We then played with the green tubes again but this time she was comfortable enough for me to leave her alone on the other end. We were talking back and forth through the tubes for a good minute or two before she looked for me. When she saw I was just on the other end, she went back and we started playing again.

For the other parts, we watched a lot of dogs, skateboarders and kids in their scooters. But to end the perfect day, she got a free pink mini doughnut from Krispy Kreme, a hat and a balloon. What more can a little girl ask for?

Baby you can drive my car

Little Missy is now interested in driving or at driving. Whenever we get in the car, she always tells her Daddy where to go, or which way to turn (left, right or straight). Daddy and I have so much fun when she does this, because we're amazed at how she remembers the directions to places we regularly go to... AND voice them out.

Today, we headed to Market! Market. We had a quick lunch at Pancake House. It's been quite some time that we've last eaten there, I think way back when I was pregnant. I was surprised that they now have a menu for kids.


Being the kid that she was, she was intrigued by the multitude of colors (m&m's) so this is what she ordered.

I must say, I missed their pancakes. She only finished 1 piece so Daddy and ate a piece each too.

After lunch, Daddy was supposed to do some transactions in BDO but the line was overwhelming! We forgot that most people had their paychecks that day too. Since little Missy already saw what was inevitable, we let her have her way this time.

After this experience, Daddy and I both agreed, no driving for minors still! :)

Birthday trip to the Zoo

(FYI: Slideshow below)
We decided to surprise Little Missy on her birthday by going on her first ever trip to the zoo. She had received a free day pass as a complimentary gift from an Easter event we attended months ago. When we got to the Ark Avilon Zoo in Pasig, we saw that children's fees were at Php200 ($5USD) and adults were charged at Php350 ($9USD). We decided to buy her a ticket and use the free pass for an adult ;) We saved Php150, hehe.

The Zoo itself was clean and well-maintained. I was so ready to see a lot of mess, I had wipes and bottleS of ethyl alcohol ready, but was surprised that it was okay. Not one of those reported to have umm... unwanted objects everywhere. The staff who were in charge of the domesticated/trained animals too were very courteous. If you look at the animals close enough, they would tell you if you can or can't touch it (like the eagles and bearcat).

The only drawback for me was visiting on a Friday. There were 8 buses of students on a field trip. I guess I should have expected that. Fridays were usually when kids had their P.E. (Phys. Ed.) classes and they come to school in jogging pants - very convenient if you're having a field trip. But all in all, it was a great experience.

As soon as we went in, even before buying the tickets, I think she loved it already! We weren't technically inside yet but she was running and wailing all over the place. The entrance had these garden sticks with animals at the top and she played with all of them (see in slideshow below). There were also a rabbit and a guinea pig pen and since she's familiar with them (Rabbit from her Peter Cottontail book, and Peanut the guinea pig from a DVD), she kept shouting "Hop! Hop! Hop!" and started calling the guinea pigs Peanut.
